Oklahoma Bill would Permit Destruction of Drones

Image result for drone shot

Under a proposed bill in Oklahoma people would be given civil immunity for destroying a drone while its operating over their land. This includes the option to shoot down the UAS with firearms regardless of the altitude at which the drone is flying. The law is in direct opposition to federal law which defines a UAS as an aircraft and any altitude above ground to be naviagable airspace. There is opposition to this bill that cites federal law and the fact that it would permit firing weapons in residential areas, which is against state law. Despite these conflicts with existing and superior laws, the bill is likely to have some strong support as it passed the committee unanimously.
